Jiwoo's journey to becoming NMIXX's main rapper and dancer began at DASTREET Dance Academy. In 2018, at the age of 13, she participated in a JYP Entertainment audition held at her academy. She prepared Taeyeon's "11:11" for vocals and 's "TT" for dance. Although she was nervous during the freestyle dance portion and reportedly repeated a single move, the casting director recognized her potential in her hand gestures and rhythm, leading to her acceptance.1

Within the group, Jiwoo is celebrated for her powerful and dynamic dance lines, which contrast with fellow dance-line member Kyujin's cleaner, more precise style. This "powerhouse" quality makes her particularly suited for boy group cover dances and intense choreography breaks, a skill she frequently showcases in variety shows and special stages.2

Despite being older than the actual youngest member Kyujin, Jiwoo is often affectionately called the "fake maknae" due to her cute, playful demeanor and soft visuals. Her personality shines in variety content, where her "gap moe"—the contrast between her fierce on-stage charisma and her adorable, sometimes clumsy off-stage self—has created numerous viral moments. One notable instance was her freestyle rap on BuzzFeed, which became a meme among fans for its unexpected hilarity and charm.3

Jiwoo is also known for her deep admiration for JYP senior band DAY6. She has frequently mentioned being a "My Day" (DAY6 fan) since her trainee days, often recommending their songs to fans and expressing her dream of collaborating or attending their concerts. This relatable "successful fan" narrative has endeared her to both NMIXX and DAY6 fanbases.4

Jiwoo attended the prestigious Hanlim Multi Art School, majoring in Entertainment. She graduated in February 2023 alongside fellow member Bae. Photos from their graduation ceremony were widely circulated in Korean media, highlighting their "visual chemistry" and marking a significant milestone in their personal lives as they transitioned fully into their idol careers.5
