Kangta is a South Korean singer and former member of the influential boy band H.O.T. He has played a significant role in promoting the Korean Wave (hallyu) through extensive activities and concerts across Asia. As a first-generation K-pop artist, he remains active in the industry.
Kangta debuted in 1996 as a member of the iconic boy band H.O.T. and later transitioned to a successful solo career. After a nine-year musical hiatus, he made a comeback in 2016 with his EP 'Home' and a series of concerts, underscoring his enduring popularity. A recognized figure in the spread of hallyu, Kangta has also taken on a mentorship role at S.M. Entertainment.
